Kit Computers : New Models

There are 2 new Microbee kit computers in the advanced stages of development. For full details on the progress of development please read the dedicated forum thread on the Microbee Technology Forum -> <HERE> Previously known (at the start of development) as the Classic-Plus, the design has changed into being the heart of 2 new models (names to be announced just before release). Renamed to represent the significant changes and added features of the designs over the original Classic-Plus target spec, these new models include the following features: Fully backwards compatible with older Microbee models Dual processor design Z80 running at 3.375Mhz, 10 Mhz or 20 Mhz MC68SZ328 (Dragonball SZ) MC68000 compatible processor running at 66Mhz Dual Boot - Microbee ‘Z80’ Mode, or ‘M68K’ mode Floppy disk emulation makes use of disk images stored on an SDcard Hardware Floppy disk interface (Option) Microbee Premium series graphics compatible Enhanced 4 bit plane extended graphics Hardware cursor / sprite layer Dual sound FIFO for stereo sound output USB mouse interface 1Mbyte ‘Z80’ space RAM Loadable boot ‘RAM’ 32Mb SDram & Flash ROM for ‘M68K’ space Fully UpScaled video out via HDMI (no need for 15Khz compatible monitor or external upscaler) Sound out via HDMI or 3.5mm jack Standard Microbee Serial & Parallel ports 2 models (shown at right) 64 key original keyboard layout & new 98 key keyboard layout in deluxe case.
