Thanks for introducing yourself.

I've approved your access to the repository so you should be able to download basic to load in from tape.

Find it here :
Microbee /Software /Tapes /Original /basic_5.22
It is a wav file so you should be able to plug your Microbee cassette in lead into a laptop's earphone output and
load it into the Microbee via the Machine language monitor. Once the tape file has loaded in you can cold boot basic
by typing G 8000<CR> at the monitor prompt.

Enjoy the stay! For your disk solution, (And if was you who posted over in the Facebook group recently, you're probably sick of this answer :-) ) I'd suggest a Gotek. They're a USB floppy drive emulator.
With the updated FlashFloppy firmware (https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy) they're a powerful alternative to disk drives. Upgrade them with a screen and a rotary encoder, and you'll wonder how you lived without them.
   
This one is mine. I flashed the firmware, added a rotary encoder, an OLED screen and a piezo buzzer (To emulate drive noises, albeit quietly). I power it off a customised PSU that has a 9.5v supply for the main unit and a 5v supply for the Gotek. You could easily use a USB PSU with the right cable instead, if you preferred.

Yep!  its the next purchase - though thinking of waiting and getting the dual floppy/Gotek combo

Hi alessiman and welcome to the forum.

Load the Basic 5.22e tape WAV file in from the Monitor using R and if the volume is right you will get no C (checksum) error and looks like this while loading with the last number going down 100h at a time

   

This shows it loads at 2000h and is 4001h long.  Unfortunately you have to move it into the correct memory position (8000h), so use

M 2000 8000 4001

and to start Basic, now type in G 8003

I had not & assumed it loaded directly to 8000h.

Why not make it programmatically so you don't need to use a tape deck?
Then you can directly create a .WAV file from a binary or hexdump file.

No need for a tape deck, just do it all in the emulator using the Monitor to save a 1200baud WAV directly to my PC's hard drive.

Sorry for the late reply to this post. It took a while for my Gotek to arrive so will be spending the evening getting it up and running
