A microbee with the addition of a TMS9919 VDP and AY-3-8910 PSG extension card can imitate an MSX system.

A subset of an MSX system can be run without it.

Beethoven has an AY-3-8910, doesn't it? Could that be used?

It could if you really wanted. The AY-3-8910 has limited performance when running from the parallel port.
Ideally it should be connected to the system bus so that it can operate at full speed.
