A big thanks to member Lew for making his Kit Microbee available to 'someone' who was able to dump (thanks also) the 4 x 2532 eproms of Basic 5.00. These were just labelled as a, b, c & d. Also, thanks to kimjohn who also found Basic 5.00 in his newly acquired Kit Microbee, these will be dumped later to confirm no bit rot is evident.
For the sceptics that have refused to accept Basic ver 5.00 ever existed or was made available in production, we now have located 2 copies within a few weeks apart after hunting for it for a decade or so.
The 4 x 4k eprom files were joined into the one 16k file for ease of use with the ubee512 emulator. This copy appears to be good and using ubee512 with
ubee512 --model=2mhz --basic=basic_5.00.rom
a number of Basic and Machine code games were loaded via tape and all played as expected. Here it is loading Viper which is a Basic game with a bit of machine code
Comparing the code with Basic 5.10, there is not a lot of difference, bits of code moved, new bits added and some removed. Basic 5.10 of course has the Self Test code added at the end that is vacant in Basic 5.00.
So after a long wait in the the MbeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\ROMs\Basic folder we placed
basic_5.00.zip
which contains the 16k joined rom and 4 individual 4k roms
basic_5.00.rom
basic_5.00_a.rom
basic_5.00_b.rom
basic_5.00_c.rom
basic_5.00_d.rom
