Sincere thanks ChickenMan, and others, for all your help thus far. With the roms etc now in the correct folder, I get this error message:

bn60.rom NOT FOUND (tried in mbee128p mbee)
silver.u39 NOT FOUND (tried in mbee 128p mbee)
charrom.bin NOT FOUND (tried in mbee 128 mbee)

i can confirm the following:
-bn60.com is in the MAME/ROM folder as specified.
-I ran a few searches, and there's no "charrom.bin" or "silver.u39" anywhere in the MameUI file structure...
It seems to be looking for a directory called mbee128p that doesn't exist? Hmmm... I guess this is too far advanced for me.
