Not sure if it'll be the best fix, but maybe get some superglue, join the two surfaces, and once the stem is in the right place, sprinkle some baking soda over the joint? It insta cures the superglue and you get a really tight bond. You could even then add more superglue and more baking soda to build up the joint.
