ds40 = Double Sided 40 track as used in all original Microbee 5.25" floppies
ds80 = Double Sided 80 track 3.5" format used in Premium 128k & 256TC
ss80 = Single Sided 80 track 3.5" format used in CIAB, Prem 128k and 256TC
ds82 = Double sided 80 track 5.25" or 3.5" as used by Dreamdisk, dont use these.
ds84 = Double sided 80 track 5.25" or 3.5" Peter Broughton system
Out of the factory, the left drive is set as A: and the right as B: but you never know what the previous owner has done. I would never screw it all back together until I have it working, saves a lot of pulling it apart again Yes the bee will only look at A: when you turn it on. The 256TC has an option though to boot from B: if there is no disk in A:
