Australian History Database disk for the Microbee - ChickenMan - 01-11-2025 Thanks to davidm for making this disk available to be imaged. It was a 5.25" disk but in DS82 (Dreamdisk) format with a Peter Broughton boot track. I used my Greasweazle ver4.0 to image the disk and ended up using 3 different 80 track drives to get a clean copy as each found errors in different parts of the disks. These were then combined to produce a bootable and working disk. The boot track and all files were then transferred to a normal DS80 disk to be more compatible with 256TC Microbees. Australian History Database was written by David M Crawford in 1988 and released by PRIMUG. There was a small Wordstar manual included on the disk. This was extracted and converted a normal PDF and included in the ZIP file with the disk as a separate document as well. The program is a database of information covering Australian history from the earliest period of human habitation to the present day. Briefly it enables you to - o Call up an event from a list of dates and events and display it on the screen o Set up the data on a page for printing o Call up cross reference for more detailed data o Position the referenced data on the page to be printed o Call up a list of events on one of a set of pre-defined subject categories o Make a general search through all records for a specific word or phrase o Print a series of records called up by category or by general search o Print a formatted page It gives broad information on 140 significant events or periods in Australia's past. It was never intended that it should be a detailed history. It aims to provide the user with a framework of information which can be supported by more thorough research from an older form of technology ... books. So in the MbeeTech Repository in the Microbee\Software\Educational folder we placed australian_history_database_ds80.dsk |
