2650 Programs - DJSCaver - 18-11-2024 Firstly thanks for the 2650 program repository. I have a working Electronics Australia 2650 processor board (well I own an original 1978 board on the shelf, and use the IC's in my 2024 reproduction board). The repository files from the Games Tapes 1 - 4 contain wav and pgm files. WAV I understand are to be played via a cassette interface. What are the PGM files used with as they do not appear to be in the 2650 Absolute Object Format described in SS51? Is there a way to convert PGM to 2650 Object format? I have other 2650 files in HEX or TXT files that work OK via PIPBUG "L" command. Thanks Dirk RE: 2650 Programs - ChickenMan - 18-11-2024 Hi Dirk and welcome to the forum ![]() The PGM files are for the Winarcadia 2650 emulator (https://amigan.1emu.net/releases/ ) The admin there converted the WAV files to the PGM files, so maybe they can be converted to something else, like HEX, etc. RE: 2650 Programs - Minuous - 18-11-2024 PGM files are just for the Ami/WinArcadia emulator, and are not directly usable on the real machine. You could load the PGM or WAV files into the emulator and use the SAVEAOF or SAVEHEX commands to generate the other filetypes as needed. I will have to get around to making and uploading AOFs sometime for all the available software. RE: 2650 Programs - DJSCaver - 21-11-2024 Thanks for the replies. Should WinZip be able to open RAR ? Mine did not appear to like the RAR I downloaded from the link. Not sure if the contents of the PGM files is just 2650 hex bytes or tweaked for the simulator. But I wrote an excel spreadsheet with VBA to take the hex bytes from the bytes start point (ignoring the padding 00) and create a AOB file Still need to see if the AOB work or not Oh... I have been cornfused by there being two Microbee forums. This one and the MSPP :-( RE: 2650 Programs - DJSCaver - 21-11-2024 All good now. Have opened RAR and used the interesting program to play the PGM files. Have exported to AOF files, which I rename to txt for easy Notepad opening. I have a working excel spreadsheet that can convert PGM to txt. I load my EA 2650 system via RS-232 to 20mA Loop at 110 BAUD using a 2020 laptop outputing the file via Hyperterm. Much :-) but slow..... Soon I hope to have a fancy front panel that will be able to DMA stored programs dierctly to the 2650 board(s) RAM Thanks All Dirk RE: 2650 Programs - cfbsoftware - 21-11-2024 (21-11-2024, 11:21 AM)DJSCaver Wrote: I load my EA 2650 system via RS-232 to 20mA Loop at 110 BAUD using a 2020 laptop outputing the file via Hyperterm. Have a look at Craig Southeren's 'Remake of the EA2650 Mini System': https://bitbucket.org/postincrement/18up5-2650-remake/src/master/ In the manual he describes the mods that you can make to Pipbug so that it can be used at 300 / 4800 baud. It makes uploading files so much better
