21 Microbee Tapes recovered and their labels - ChickenMan - 22-11-2023
Thanks to MbeeTech for making most of these tapes available to be recorded that he was able to borrow from a collector for a few days. So a quick visit to his shop was organised to record them. Most were original tapes, a few we already have in the Repository, some we have are missing pictures of their labels and/or inserts. Most of them are available on disk in the Repository and now available on tape also. There were 6 new programs, these were saved out to disk as MWB files via the monitor and will appear on a disk with menu at a later date. Some labels replaced an existing one for quality reasons also. Recently MbeeTech acquired another small collection of tapes. Again, all were originals and there were 5 that we didn't have in the Repository, so included here also. We already have the Manual for Complex in the Repository, its needed to understand the complexities of this program for simplifying complex mathematic problems. In addition, grahaml sent in a recording, thanks, of one tape they we didn't have also, plus scans of the insert for it and another tape. The tape was a backup copy so no cassette artwork. Thanks also to snuffytime for providing a couple of scans of cassette inserts and their labels for tapes they were not in the Repository.
All the tapes were recorded at 44.1khz and saved as stereo 16bit WAV files using Goldwave running on my Window 10 laptop. The Left & Right channels were separated and both saved out as Mono WAV files. These were then loaded into ubee512 running as a Premium PC85 via the Monitor. Most loaded without error with some needing the Noise Removal filter applied. Some tapes had 300 baud one side and 1200 baud the other, where possible both were recorded and recovered. To reduce the large WAV files size, they were reduced in recording frequency and saved as 8 bit mono WAV files. These were then all re-tested to load into ubee512 without error.
