Diagnostics Disks - CheshireNoir - 20-03-2023

Hey All,
So one of my 'bees has been misbehaving, but with some components replaced it now seems "stable".
I'm wanting to run some diagnostics on it, but, correct me if I'm wrong, is T128STD on the diagnostics disk found in the repository specific to the Premium range?

On my standard 128k, it does that thing where everything becomes strange characters I usually associate with trying to run a Premium colour application on a B/W machine.

Cheers!

John

Not having any documentation for it, but the name suggests its for a 128 std unit and not a Premium only, but should also work on both.

Cheers Chickenman,
I'll try it on my Premium, then maybe shuffle some core boards around. See if I can work out what works and what doesn't work.

Hi John,
Try using the ut212.ROM, it was the early version before the Premium and more suited to the none Premium Microbee's.
Not as pretty but tests all the memory operations of the early systems.

Hi Ernest,
I've been using ut212 but I've found it to be a bit flakey. Could be the system, but the system boots fine from a BT56 ROM, where at it randomly reboots during testing with ut212. Thus me wanting to look beyond.

Maybe a problem with the reset circuit?
Is it one particularly Coreboard or one specific Mainboard that you are getting this?

Please post a photo of it misbehaving!

Thanks Ernest and someone.
I've got distracted by working on my CreatiVision, so I haven't had a chance to do much more on this project. (Also waiting on a white PAL from Ewan which is in the post, which will give me another core board as a point of reference)
The faults I was seeing using ut212 was that it would just randomly crash out of the RAM test back to the initial RAM test screen. I'll have to try and capture it when I next get some time. Won't be for a few weeks, I'm afraid but I will update here.

Cheers and thanks to everyone here.

John
