EDASM - What am I doing wrong? - mjelic - 24-05-2022 So with the help of Chickenman, I am able to get EDASM booted and even have a nice blank disk to save my files to. Now I'm trying to get my head around the fairly unfriendly EDASM and I downloaded the manual and trying to find the commads to load and save files. (That is always the first thing I try, becuase if you can't save your work, you may as well not bother.) Now if I read the manual correctly, the command to use is G followed by "filename". On the disk that Chickenman provided, was a couple files that I presume are EDASM files: Example.edt and Examp2.edt If I TYPE those files out from CPM, they certainly look like Assembly files. But if I try to load them into EDASM, using the only load command I can find: G"EXAMPLE.EDT", all I get is the misspelled error "Ilegal format" So, I figure I must be doing something wrong, or I'm looking in the wrong instruction book, or... Man, this is hard work getting into this... RE: EDASM - What am I doing wrong? - ChickenMan - 25-05-2022 Well reading the microworld_z80_editor_assembler_instruction_manual_85.pdf manual, you can only Save and Get files from tape. From the manual Introduction - The Editor files may be saved to, or loaded from, cassette using the Save and Get commands. G Get from tape "NAME" or * and S Save file called "NAME" RE: EDASM - What am I doing wrong? - mjelic - 25-05-2022 Really?? They have a CP/M version of EDASM, that loads off a disk, but you can't save your work to that same diskette? Wow. I wonder if anyone ever actually used EDASM to discover this then said, blow this... Thanks for looking into it, Alan. PS. How do you "save" or "load" from a "tape" on uBee512? RE: EDASM - What am I doing wrong? - MbeeTech - 25-05-2022 The way to load from disk is : G<space>"NAME"<RETURN> Must include the space and you don't include the EDT extension. Example : To load BASCOL.EDT : G "BASCOL"<RETURN> RE: EDASM - What am I doing wrong? - mjelic - 25-05-2022 (25-05-2022, 10:58 AM)ejwords Wrote: The way to load from disk is :Ah, was missing the Space. Editor/Assembler Technical Manual has the space missing. Thanks, Ewan! |
