Diamond Dash - Under4Mhz - 13-05-2022

I've ported one of my remakes to the Microbee. Find attached.

Thanks for everyone's help and patience.

Feedback is welcome. Let me know if it works on real hardware.

Works great on ubee512, well done, but will try on a real 'bee later.

Okay booted the color version on my Prem 128k bee. I get the first screen of Under4Mhz for a second or 2 as it jumps around the screen, then a black screen. Leave it 10sec or so and I get a colour screen of garbage, another 10sec or so I see part of the blue Diamond Dash screen again only for a sec or so as it also rapidly flickers around and then a black screen again. I get the same if I boot the dsk image in A: or running M.COM from B: drive. I'm booting via a Gotek also.

I've disabled setting the screen columns and rows. Can you tell me if it stops the flickering? It'll be the wrong width, since the game is meant for 64 column not 80.

Yes the flickering has stopped and games seams to run but its on an 80 wide screen so all distorted like

Thanks for the test and the photo. It's good to see the grey is showing correctly (it does on ubee, but not on mame).

I've added a fix for the screen resolution; I was setting the vertical total rows, and I think it didn't like that. I've also sped it up a bit and animated the logo.

Could you try it again?

BEE is for premium colour disk systems
BWE (B&W bee) is for monochrome tape systems.

I've just replied on this topic regarding setting the screen to 64 x 16.
Looks like you might have done it with your last update, but the code is there if you want it.

Running v1.02 I now get an animated initial screen for a few seconds, great, but then all video is turned off. I have to Reset to get any video back.

Here's another version. I modified the wait for vsync code and I was polling the wrong bit.

Still the same, flashing first screen for a few seconds and then video turned off. There is now a "3" in the top left corner that wasnt there before.
