More TRS-80/System-80 User Group Bits & Bytes Newsletters - ChickenMan - 11-12-2021

Thanks to kimjohn for making another folder of Bits and Bytes Newsletters available for scanning to help in adding to or repairing the collection that we already have in the repository. These were originally from the Newsletter Editor of the TRS-80/System-80 User Group, Brisbane, who maintained a complete collection.

The folder contained Issues No. 29 through to 82 which was similar to the previous folder.  We have all those currently in the Repository except for one new addition, #31. Slowly going through them page by page it was soon discovered that there were quite a few problems in various editions including pages missing, pages 99% unreadable and others with either lines or words missing or simply unreadable. Also, most of these newsletters had Yellow paper used for the front cover and sometimes others.

Our current newsletters #36, #37 & #38 were all missing the last 10 to 6 pages, these are now fully updated. Most in of the #30's were also missing the first 2 to 6 pages as well. From #53 and higher only the front cover were changed to Yellow or Blue as no other changes were needed. So these were all repaired and updated to the collection, including the ZIP file collections.

Of particular interest, there was also include a 28 page document titled "Known Programs for TRS-80/System 80". It was divided into sections -

Disk Operating Systems
Word Processors
Utilities General
Databases and Spreadsheets
Compilers/Languages
Basic Games
Machine Language Games
General Unclassified

Data included in the list is -

Filename/Ext-Program Type-Version-Memory-Graphics-Sound-Rating-Docs-TRS80-Sys80-Tape-Start-End-Entry Addrs. So some very useful data and well worth a good read.

So in the Vintage Repository in the System-80\Documentation\Newsletters\Bits_and_Bytes folder we updated or added

RE: More TRS-80/System-80 User Group Bits & Bytes Newsletters - ChickenMan - 23-12-2021

Thanks to kimjohn for making his last folder of Bits and Bytes Newsletters available for scanning to help in adding to or repairing the collection that we already have in the repository. These were originally from the Newsletter Editor of the TRS-80/System 80 User Group, Brisbane. In Feb 1994 (see issue #128) the group changed its name from TRS-80/System 80 Computer Users Group Inc. to Bits & Bytes Computer Users Group Inc. as more and more of its members moved to MS-DOS computers.

The folder contained Issues No. 83 through to 143 which continued on from the previous folder above.  We have all of those currently in the Repository except for one new addition, #126. Slowly going through them page by page a few problems were found in various editions including front pages not colourized, a few missing pages and a couple of pages were difficult to read fully. These problems have all been fixed, so we now have a complete collection of these Newsletters from #001 through to #145 in very good condition and each issue complete. If anyone has any issues after #145 we would love to hear from you.

The ZIP file collections each containing 10 Newsletters have also been updated with these updated editions also.

Also found in the folder was a Members Hardware Form they use to update their members list to included the members hardware and model they owned.

So in the Vintage Repository in the System-80\Documentation\Newsletters\Bits_and_Bytes folder we updated or added
