Hello - Oldbee - 26-11-2019 Hi all, My name is Mark. I owned a 32k Microbee (tape drive) back in the early-mid 80s. I was first introduced to computing by playing text based games such as Golf (how exciting that was!), Civil War and the legendary (Hunt the) Wumpus. When my high school set up a computer room (Dick Smith System 80s plus one TRS-80 for the teacher) my interest grew and started learning BASIC. Some how I convinced my parents to by me a Microbee. As a teenager obviously I played a lot of the arcade games clones but this was where I first encountered text adventures - Frankenstein being the first and most memorable. Since then I've always had an interest in coding, but only as a hobbiest. In High School, a friend and I won the major prize for the inaguaural Electronic Games category in the Victorian Science Talent Search competition for a text adventure inspired by Wumpus and the movie Fantastic Voyage where you are shrunk and injected into a patient and navigate the organs trying to locate and destroy cancers. A couple of years ago I came across Nanowasp and played the adventures there, and then joined another Microbee forum to download an emulator and various disk images. I now continue to play text adventures in spare time and have quite a few walkthroughs to assist those who share my interest in these games. I will provide them to the repository once I've requested and gained access. Cheers. Mark RE: Hello - ChickenMan - 26-11-2019 Welcome Mark, great to see you here. Thanks you for all your efforts in writing up the Text Adventure walkthroughs. All your past work plus from others are all up in the Repository together with your latest ones. |
