The dreaded leaky RTC Battery - someone - 23-09-2021 This is the aftermath of a leaky Varta battery on a 256TC. The removal of the RTC IC and a VDU SRAM shows the extent of the damage. The PCB traces are super fine and seem to disintegrate by looking at them. RE: The dreaded leaky RTC Battery - CheshireNoir - 23-09-2021 Ouch! That's going to be "fun" to fix :-( I assume you've neutralised the alkaline with something suitable? Looks like there could end up being a mess of bodge/patch wires in somebodies future. I have a Mac SE/30 that had Alkaline corrosion from leaky caps. While I cleaned it up and it worked fine for a year, it's now stopped and I'll need to send it off to a professional to get it to the "next step". I wish you luck! Chesh |
