RE: Dick Smith System 80 - What do I do next with it? - CheshireNoir - 28-10-2022 So I tried a different tack, and recorded the WAV file to a cassette and tried playing back that, but no dice. I still didn't get any signal above 1 and a bit, even after re-recording it at much higher volumes. At this point I think there must be something wrong in the amplifier circuit associated with the cassette. Looking at page 39 of the schematics, if I replaced R5 (3.9k resistor) with, say, a 2k resistor, would that work in boosting my output, or am I misunderstanding the circuit? EDIT: Alternatively, should I look at using a different cassette deck with the external tape port? I'll need to buy a 2.5mm jack for the motor control, but it should be doable? John RE: Dick Smith System 80 - What do I do next with it? - ChickenMan - 28-10-2022 Are you trying to load via the external Cassette port ? if so, you must load Binary files ONLY via the built in player. I normally have the F1 button down also. RE: Dick Smith System 80 - What do I do next with it? - CheshireNoir - 29-10-2022 Not yet trying to load from the external cassette port. Merely wondering if it would have been an easier path than fixing the internal cassette drive. There is a simple mod shown on PG26 to be able to switch between internal/external cassette decks. Cheers, Leslie |
