So it's a week later and I now have a working PC85.
Brad over at MSPP posted a couple of tips and tricks, and following his lead, I checked IC26 with my logic probe, and where there should have been logic was nothing. Out it came and in went a socket and a replacement and... it works!

Woohoo!

I also slapped a decent heatsink on the 5v regulator. I haven't yet got around to organising a 10V PSU, but I have a cunning plan! I'll replace the power in socket on my harness with a tiny jiffy box containing a switch (to make control easier) and a big power diode (with a 1.2v drop across it) inline to bring the voltage down to 10.8v.

After this, I need to see what went wrong with my second ROM image in the PAK10 slot. It shows in the self test so I must have incorrectly made the image. (I am feeling spurred on by ChickenMan's recent work to have a couple of games in my empty ROM slots)

Down the track, I'll also get a case made for it. I'm thinking clear acrylic :-D

Thanks to everyone who made me keep pushing to get this done. I guess, after this, I should see if I can get the ROMs for the older of the three working. From zero to three 'bees in under 3 months? MADNESS!

Pak 10 is reserved for the expanded SHELL Menu so I'm 100% sure you can make that available for use for anything else.
That said however with some modifications you can access the extra Pack locations of 6, 7, 14 & 15 if you need the extras ROM slots but the MB8328 Board doesn't have the physical ROM locations standard.
